Client Service Philosophy

John is very up-front and straightforward with clients. He is a very good listener and likes to fully understand the client’s needs and be fully open with the client as to our ability to meet those needs. John is very dead-lined driven and focuses on identifying value.

Experience

After earning a Master's degree, John began his public accounting career with KPMG Peat Marwick where he became a Senior Tax Specialist. While at KPMG, John gained experience in many areas of tax planning and compliance and served on the Quality Service Awards Committee. John joined McLeod & Company in August 1996, where he continues to provide specialized tax consulting services to business and individuals.

Specific experience includes:

	State and local tax minimization services including multi-state income tax planning, income tax nexus exposure reviews, and Business, Professional and Occupational License (BPOL) Tax reviews
	Fixed asset reviews to maximize depreciation deductions on new construction as well as to recover deductions on under-depreciated assets
	Tax planning and compliance for community banks
	Assistance with corporate subsidiary liquidations
	Compliance and planning issues related to affiliated groups of corporations

Education

John earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance and Management and a Master of Accountancy degree at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, Virginia.
